The development of the course
  • 1895: The first nine holes covering the area up to the Sweethaws Lane.
  • 1896: A further 3 holes added close to, but over, the Sweethaws Lane.
  • 1898: A full 18 hole course to the existing boundaries
  • 1927: Completion of major changes including the movement to the existing 1st and 18th holes to both be entirely on the Clubhouse side of Sheep Plain road running beside the 1st green.
  • 1957: The last major change leaving the course as it is today. Opened with an exhibition match that included Peter Alliss.
  • July 2005 – ‘Opening of ‘The Conan Doyle’ course from the blue tees
